A woman was found shot to death early Friday on San Antonio’s East Side, just feet from the IDEA Carver charter campus, according to police. A passerby discovered her in front of a residence, and San Antonio Fire Department paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. According to the San Antonio Express-News, a 911 caller reported a woman lying in front of a home shortly after 5 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of Center Street. Officers arrived to find her unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound, and paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

KSAT reports a passerby located the body near Center Street and North Olive Street, and officers determined she’d been shot in the abdomen. Homicide detectives were called in as police canvassed nearby yards and businesses for witnesses and video early Friday.

Police are reviewing surveillance video from the adjacent IDEA Carver campus as part of the investigation, KTSA reports. The outlet also reports officers believe the victim was in her 30s. Authorities have not released the woman’s name or a possible motive, the Express-News reports, and detectives continued processing the scene Friday morning.
