A fatal collision on a North Las Vegas freeway interchange resulted in the death of a wrong-way driver over the weekend, according to authorities. The incident occurred shortly after the early hours of Saturday morning on the interchange connecting the northbound pathways of CC-215 and Interstate 15, near East Tropical Parkway. 8 News NOW reported that a black 2020 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling in the wrong direction, heading southbound on the northbound lanes, when it collided head-on with a northward-moving 2015 GMC pickup.
While navigating the northbound CC-215 en route to the I-15 north on-ramp, the two vehicles encountered a tragic fate. Sent to a local hospital was the driver of the GMC pickup, with the southbound Chevrolet’s operator dying at the scene. Following the crash, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed until the coroner's office notified their next of kin.
The Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Southern Command continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the accident, as the latest in a concerning trend of on-road fatalities within the region. According to a statement obtained by News3LV, this tragedy marks the 54th fatality in the command's jurisdiction for the year 2025.
