A 36-year-old individual from Ypsilanti Township is now in custody following a standoff that unfolded over the course of Sunday morning, culminating in a peaceful surrender after nearly five hours of tense negotiation; this information comes via reports from both ClickOnDetroit and CBS Detroit.
The incident, which has rooted itself in the quiet stretch of Eagle Trace Drive near Textile and Whitaker roads, began when authorities responded to a call at about 10 a.m., following reports of a shooting the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said in the aftermath, the suspect barricaded themselves within their home, prompting a response from the Washtenaw County Metro Crisis Negotiation Team which labored for hours facilitating the individual's eventual surrender.
"The victim had non-life-threatening injuries and was transported and treated at a local hospital," reported the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office in a social media post detailing the events.
