A tragic incident unfolded in Harford County as Maryland State Police were called to the scene of a fatal pedestrian crash that claimed the life of an 11-year-old girl. The tragic event occurred on Sunday evening, and the young victim was transported to a local trauma center by the Maryland State Police Aviation Command, where, sadly, she was pronounced deceased.
Authorities from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack rushed to the site after reports came in shortly after 5 p.m. about the accident on northbound Riverside Parkway (MD 543) at Church Creek Road. According to Maryland State Police, a Jeep Grand Cherokee was navigating north on MD 543 with a green light when the juvenile, moving within the bounds of the crosswalk, was struck. The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and has thus far not been implicated in any wrongdoing involving alcohol.
Following the incident, the area was closed off to traffic for approximately one and a half hours as the authorities, including personnel from Maryland State Police Bel Air and JFK barracks, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Harford County Department of Emergency Services, managed the preliminary investigation and aftermath of the crash. As reported by the Maryland State Police, investigations are ongoing in this active case, with the Bel Air Barrack taking the lead.
