Early Thursday morning, a crash on Albers Road, south of Dusty Lane, killed 55-year-old Modesto resident and injured 23-year-old Alberto Ochoaaguilar. The California Highway Patrol reported that a 2016 Chrysler sedan, driven by Ochoaaguilar, and a 1999 Nissan pickup collided head-on. Ochoaaguilar was taken to Oak Valley Hospital with major injuries. The driver of the Nissan, whose name has not been released, died at the scene, according to ABC 10.
CHP's preliminary investigation revealed that Ochoaaguilar was driving southbound when he mistakenly entered the northbound lane, causing a fatal collision on Albers Road. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and authorities have not yet determined if substances were involved.
A third vehicle was found south of the crash site, with no reported injuries. Firefighters discovered two people trapped in vehicles, one of whom died at the scene while the other was hospitalized, and Albers Road was temporarily closed with minimal traffic delays, as reported by CBS News Sacramento.
