
Three teenagers found themselves at the center of a road rage incident that escalated to gunfire in Clay County, Florida. The Clay County Sheriff's Office has reported the arrest of 63-year-old Ruben Rodriguez Heredia following his alleged involvement in the shooting of an 18-year-old male during a moving confrontation that occurred last Wednesday. According to a social media post by the Sheriff's Office, the incident began near Branan Field Rd and Blanding Blvd and continued for several miles.
The road rage encounter quickly turned dire when reports of shots fired from a black pick-up truck into a black sedan were received. Deputies responded swiftly, locating the injured teenager at HCA Middleburg Emergency. The victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, is thankfully expected to survive. Two other teenagers, another 18-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, were present but unharmed during the shooting. Roughly 10 minutes after the initial 911 call, deputies managed to stop the suspect vehicle and took Heredia into custody, as mentioned on the Clay County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
The Sheriff's Office has expressed gratitude towards the community for its role in helping to locate the suspect's vehicle and requested patience during the investigation. Rodriguez has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and is being held at the Clay County Jail with a total bond set at $750,003.
