
An 83-year-old man's life ended tragically after being struck by an SUV in Pittsfield Township. The incident, as reported by CBS News, occurred around 5:37 p.m. yesterday. The victim was attempting to cross Washtenaw Avenue near Deake Avenue when a westbound Ford Explorer collided with him.
The emergency services swiftly transported the elderly gentleman to an area hospital where, despite the efforts to save his life, he succumbed to his injuries. According to the ClickOnDetroit report, he was not crossing at an official crosswalk at the time of the accident. The 45-year-old Temperance woman behind the wheel of the Ford Explorer did not sustain any injuries.
Following the incident, Washtenaw Avenue was closed between Deake Avenue and Torrey Avenue for several hours as authorities conducted an on-site investigation. FOX 2 Detroit emphasized in their coverage that investigators currently do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
