Hays County has just put a new hand at the wheel in its Transportation Department, tapping Aaron Jones as Director of Transportation effective since Dec. 2. Coming from more than ten years within Hays County and previous work in the private sector, Jones steps into the role with a rich backdrop of experience in road construction and maintenance, according to an announcement from the County's official website.
Before joining the county team as Road Maintenance Superintendent in May 2013, Aaron cut his teeth working for a contractor specializing in various aspects of construction, including subdivisions and state roadways. Having ascended the ranks through years of leadership and planning contributions, Jones shared with the Hays County announcement, “Being part of this team for the past several years has given me invaluable knowledge of county operations and strong working relationships with other departments, local partners and residents. All of this has uniquely prepared me to take on this new role.”
In his new position at the helm, Jones is tasked with the oversight and future-proofing of the County's transportation, particularly at a time when the region faces rapid growth and the tribulations tied to it. “My top priority is to continue providing safe, reliable roadways while preparing for the future,” Jones told the Hays County website. He intends to leverage cutting-edge tools and technologies to enhance infrastructure management and anticipate the needs of an expanding community.
A warm hand of congratulations has been extended by Hays County to Aaron Jones on his latest ascent—a move signaling continued commitment to the arc of progress in the region’s transportation infrastructure.
