The Ann Arbor Community Police Academy will return in 2026, offering residents a chance to learn more about law enforcement and build stronger connections with the police department. The program provides firsthand insight into daily police operations and community-focused policing, as reported by the City of Ann Arbor Police Department's Facebook post.
Classes will run for eight weeks on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., beginning February 12 and ending April 2, 2026. Topics include a station tour, City of Ann Arbor Police Department’s vision and pillars, fair and impartial policing, use-of-force policies, de-escalation, investigations, and crime scene processing.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, able to pass a background check, and preference will be given to those who live, work, or study in Ann Arbor. Enrollment is limited to 15 participants.
