In a heartwarming holiday update from the Apex Police Department, the beloved elf Lucy, an integral part of the department’s Christmas tradition, has shared a message with the community. Instead of the standard farewell via Facebook Live typically conducted by the department, Lucy took to social media to express that she might be saying “See you next year” rather than a final goodbye due to feeling under the weather on Christmas Eve, as posted on Apex Police Department Facebook page.
Despite the change in tradition and her own challenges, Lucy promises to maintain a personal connection with the community by gifting "Lucy" Elf on the Shelf dolls, complete with personalized messages, to five select households, continuing her jolly legacy into the next year and beyond; the details of the upcoming draw were said to be announced in a subsequent post. Addressing her audience, Lucy said, “Merry Christmas everyone! I’m so sorry that I’m not able to say a proper goodbye, but there might not need to be a goodbye, but instead a 'See you next year after all'."
Lucy's annual role in spreading cheer is well-documented, involving her diligent checks on elf friends and the ‘shenanigans’ they orchestrate during the season. Alongside her announcement, Lucy expressed gratitude for the support she received over the years, underscoring the impact of the community's kindness and love.
Concluding her message, Lucy didn’t forget to remind everyone of a critical holiday tradition, asking families to leave out cookies and milk for Santa and a little extra for herself and Rudolph, she implored, “P.S. Don’t forget to leave cookies and milk for Santa and add a few extra for me and Rudolph,” as per the Apex Police Department.
