According to the same report by ClickOrlando, a witness observed Bass exiting the vehicle before she heard a gunshot, following which the driver was found shot in the back and collapsed onto the ground. The man succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital. Not long after the shooting, Bass purportedly entered a nearby residence, refusing to emerge for several hours until police finally took him into custody.
The context of the shooting appears more nuanced, with details emerging from an interview by WESH, wherein a female witness who was present in the front seat during the ride illuminated the build-up to the incident. She mentioned an argument over how Bass would return home, eventually leading to the victim’s offer to drive Bass back, after which they sat in the car for a short spell. Further detailing a possible motive, "She said Bass may have become upset after seeing text messages from other men on her phone," according to the woman who was with them and not dating Bass despite some past intimacy.
