
Arlington County reported several criminal incidents that occurred mostly on December 27. According to the Arlington County website, report details encounters between suspects and police, as well as other criminal activity.
James Stephens Jr., 45, of Arlington, VA, faces charges of Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement and Obstruction of Justice after allegedly throwing merchandise in a business and assaulting two officers during his arrest. In a separate incident, a juvenile female suspect struck an officer while in custody, resulting in petitions for Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement, Obstruction of Justice, and Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance.
Kyle Kenion, 37, of Landover, Md., was taken into custody on the 400 block of 23rd Street S. after threatening a victim with what appeared to be a box cutter. Around the same time, Arlington experienced multiple burglaries and larcenies. In one case on the 1900 block of S. Eads Street, Jennifer Maginnis, 32, of Woodbridge, VA, was charged after allegedly entering a vacant apartment and causing damage.
Gun-related incidents included shots fired on 13th Street N. at N. Taft Street and a male suspect discharging a firearm into the air on the 1700 block of 14th Road S., fleeing in a silver SUV. No injuries or property damage were reported. Meanwhile, the county saw numerous reports of shoplifting, larceny, and property damage, suggesting a continuing trend of petty crime.
Several vehicles were reported stolen, including a 2024 Honda Civic and a 2005 Volvo S60. Law enforcement also received online reports of harassment, larceny from auto, fraud, and suspicious activity. Police continue to investigate these incidents.
