Residents of Romulus and lovers of craft beer will need to bid farewell to a local favorite, Artisan Reserve, as it prepares to pour its final pint. After seven years quenching the city's thirst, the brewery located on Goddard Road is set to close on December 19. The announcement came both as a post on Artisan's Reserve's social media channels and was detailed in a subsequent news report by ClickOnDetroit.
Owner Brian Bush shared a heartfelt message, which outlined the unavoidable circumstances leading to the shutdown. "This decision was not made lightly, however over the past several months some unexpected changes beyond our control has made it clear that continuing operations is no longer possible," Bush expressed. Despite the abrupt end, Artisan Reserve has left an indelible mark on the community through its events and the camaraderie fostered within its walls, reported by ClickOnDetroit.
In the soul-baring announcement issued by Artisan Reserve's Facebook page, Bush reflected on the journey: "It's been such an honor and privilege to be open for 7 years and serve all of you." He chronicled the high points from bike nights to game nights, attributing the lasting memories to the individuals who made the brewery more than a mere watering hole, but a vibrant community hub.
The outpouring of thanks was clear in Bush's message as he concluded, "For now though I just want to say THANK YOU. Thank you for being part of this journey, and for sticking with us over the years, through the COVID pandemic, through building issues, through EVERYTHING!" The brewery’s departure will leave more than just a vacant storefront; it’s the loss of a communal space that resonated deeply with many in Romulus, as per the Artisan Reserve's Facebook page.
As December 19 approaches, patrons can likely expect the brewery to be bustling with patrons looking to raise a glass one last time to Artisan Reserve. For those interested in supporting the brewery in its final days or simply sharing a parting toast, a visit to the establishment on Goddard Road is a must before it fades to a fond memory in Romulus' history.
