Atlantic Beach will re-launch its Citizens Police Academy (CPA) on January 2026 as part of an effort to strengthen community engagement with the police department. The program is open to applicants who want to gain a first-hand understanding of police operations and learn more about law enforcement processes.
According to the City of Atlantic Beach, the CPA goes beyond procedural training, covering areas such as traffic stops and K-9 operations. The program is limited to 25 participants and provides an opportunity to meet the officers behind the badge.
Participants in the program will have the opportunity to explore the inner workings of the police department, including investigative procedures, decision-making in high-pressure situations, and the daily responsibilities of officers. The program is designed to provide education while fostering a better understanding and relationship between the Atlantic Beach Police Department (ABPD) and the community.
Applications are open until December 31, with a $25 fee per participant. Interested individuals can obtain an application from the Atlantic Beach Police Department at 850 Seminole Road or contact Lt. Ed Peck for more information.
