The Austin Police Department (APD) is actively seeking information from the public to assist in an aggravated assault case that involved the use of a deadly weapon, according to a recent statement. The department is also on the hunt for the identity of the suspect tied to the incident that occurred last month.
Law enforcement was dispatched to the scene at 1700 Burton Drive, bright and early, at the break of dawn on November 19th—6:36 a.m., to be precise—following a report about a male victim who had been shot during an altercation. By the time the officers arrived, the male suspect in question had fled.
Detectives have since obtained a photograph of the suspect and urge anyone with information about the photograph's individual or the aggravated assault to come forward. "Anyone with any information about identity of the suspect should call the APD Aggravated Assault Unit at 512-974-5245," the Austin Police Department has stated. Meanwhile, the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program offers anonymity for those who prefer it, through their website at austincrimestoppers.org or via phone at 512-472-8477. They have even made mention that a reward of up to $1,000 may be available for tips leading to an arrest.
As the APD continues to gather evidence, they rely not only on forensic insights and detective experience but also on the vigilance and cooperation from those they protect and serve. It's a sobering reminder that the safety of a community is often in the hands of the collective, not just those behind badges. Details pertaining to this case and any updates will be broadcast by authorities as they arise.
