A familiar clatter of plates is slated to return to the MGM Grand next month, as Avenue Café, the resort’s longtime breakfast and lunch workhorse, is scheduled to reopen on Jan. 12. The comeback brings back a classic daytime option to a space that has spent the past year hosting a rotating, TV-themed pop-up.
According to News 3 Las Vegas, Avenue Café will reclaim the footprint currently occupied by Netflix BITES, which is set to wrap up its one-year residency next Sunday. While crews flip the space back to its original tenant, the station notes that hungry guests can detour to the MGM Grand Buffet, TAP Sports Bar, Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill or Nellie’s Southern Kitchen.
Netflix BITES moved into the former Avenue Café location earlier this year as an experiential, show-inspired concept, serving dishes themed around series such as Stranger Things and Bridgerton, according to Eater Vegas. The venue was billed as a limited residency when it debuted in February 2025, so its January exit sticks to the scripted run.
MGM has been quietly but steadily reshuffling the Grand’s food and beverage lineup as part of a larger refresh of the property. In corporate materials outlining a major room remodel and new entertainment and dining experiences, the company highlighted Netflix BITES among several additions tied to that strategy, according to MGM Resorts.
What the Return Looks Like
Avenue Café originally went dark in late 2024 after MGM announced plans to replace the daylight-only spot with a new concept, Eater Vegas reported. Before the changeover, the café had a reputation for an affordable, retro diner feel, plus a straightforward breakfast and lunch lineup of made-to-order omelets, pancakes and sandwiches. For many MGM Grand regulars and employees, it functioned as a reliable, no-fuss pit stop between table games and convention sessions.
Where to Eat While You Wait
In the short gap between the Netflix BITES close and Avenue Café’s relaunch, News 3 Las Vegas notes that guests can stick to on-property standbys, including the MGM Grand Buffet and several bar and grill options. For reservations and up-to-date hours across the resort’s restaurants, the hotel directs diners to MGM Grand, where current listings and booking information are posted.
The handoff from a streaming-branded pop-up back to a familiar café is a reminder of how often Strip resorts rotate concepts in search of buzz and steady foot traffic. For now, MGM guests get a short countdown: Netflix BITES is slated to shut its doors next Sunday, with Avenue Café scheduled to slide back into place on Jan. 12, according to local reporting.
