Over 200 students, parents, and community members gathered at Bicentennial Park in Baytown on Thursday to remember 16-year-old Andrew Meismer, a Sterling High School student who was fatally stabbed by a fellow student earlier this week. Attendees held candles, balloons, and flowers, and shared memories, sang, and prayed. An online fundraiser and Meal Train were set up to support Andrew’s family, and authorities continue to investigate the incident, as detailed by FOX 26 Houston.
On Friday, mourners at the candlelight vigil wore clown makeup to honor Meismer. Ikelle Fevrier, Meismer's girlfriend, said, "The reason why we're all wearing clown makeup right now is because he would literally dress up and for the reason to make people smile and it made him feel good about himself."
Fevrier reflected on their brief time together, saying, "This year we got together, and I didn't even get to make my three months with him or have Christmas with him." She remains committed to honoring his memory, telling KHOU, "I'm going to make sure everybody knows my boyfriend's name."
