Late Monday night in Beaumont, a man was found badly injured inside a parked car outside a neighborhood convenience store and was later moved to a Houston hospital for more advanced care. Police say medical staff determined he appeared to have been shot, and investigators are now turning to nearby residents and businesses for any footage or tips that might explain what happened.
Officers Find Seriously Injured Man At Market Ace On Florida Avenue
Beaumont police officers were called around 10:55 p.m. Monday to the Market Ace at 520 Florida Avenue for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found a Black man sitting in a black Chevrolet Malibu with major injuries. Beaumont EMS rushed him to a local hospital, where staff concluded he appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. Because of how serious his condition was, arrangements were made to transfer him to a hospital in Houston for further treatment.
Officers were not able to speak with the victim at the scene. Investigators believe he may have been in the area of the 4900 block of Wyatt Street around 9:30 p.m. and are asking residents there to review any doorbell or security camera footage for unusual activity, according to KFDM.
Recent Shootings Keep Police Busy
Authorities say this case comes on the heels of a run of violent incidents in recent months, including an October shooting at a downtown gathering that left two people wounded. That pattern is part of why investigators are leaning on community help, Beaumont Enterprise reported. The outlet noted that video from homes and local businesses often supplies the key breaks that move investigations forward.
How To Help Investigators
Anyone with information is asked to call the Beaumont Police Department at (409) 832-1234 or Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers at 833-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the P3 Tips app, according to the Beaumont Police Department. Officers emphasized that even brief video clips and seemingly minor details could turn out to be important.
