A Harford County man was detained by the authorities yesterday following an investigation that uncovered suspected child pornography in his possession. Matthew McMahon, 51, from Bel Air, faces multiple charges, according to the official report released by the Maryland State Police. Specifically, the man is charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography and is currently being held at the Harford County Detention Center without bond.
The case against McMahon began to unfold in September of 2025 when an officer from the Harford County Child Advocacy Center spearheaded an investigation revolving around the acquisition and viewing of illicit materials. The details of the case emerged in a statement provided by the Maryland State Police. Throughout their meticulous inquiry, evidence pointed towards McMahon as an alleged possessor of images and videos depicting children in compromised situations.
Culminating the investigation on Tuesday, a composite team consisting of Maryland State Police – Child Exploitation Unit members, Harford County Child Advocacy Center deputies, Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force members, and Homeland Security Investigations agents performed a coordinated raid. They executed a search warrant at McMahon's residence in Bel Air, where he was apprehended without incident.
