In Bethpage, N.Y., a 30-year-old man has been charged with the fatal stabbing of his parents at a family-owned Italian deli. The incident took place inside A&A Italian Deli and Pizza, which was operated by his mother and father. The Nassau County Police Department reported that the events occurred on Hicksville Road near Boundary Avenue. CBS News states that the altercation began in a back room, where the man allegedly first attacked his 62-year-old mother, Angela Pulisciano, and then stabbed his 70-year-old father, Antonio Dambrosio, in the throat.
Before the murders, Dambrosio was involved in a separate incident in which he allegedly "slapped the buttocks of one of the female clerks in [a local] coffee shop," Nassau County Police Det. Lt. George Darienzo told CBS News. The act was reported to 911 shortly before he went to his family's deli. At the time, Dambrosio was subject to an active order of protection issued by a sibling and was being monitored with an ankle device. He faced arraignment on first-degree murder charges in Hempstead.
Officials said there was a history of violence within the family, which had led to Dambrosio being estranged from them. ABC7NY indicated that the estrangement followed a domestic dispute with a sibling in November, after which the sibling obtained an order of protection against him. When police arrived at the deli, they found both stabbing victims and Dambrosio still present at the scene.
Dambrosio was hospitalized for injuries sustained during the incident, and a bedside arraignment was expected. The investigation into the motives and circumstances of the killings is ongoing. Authorities continue to gather information about the events that occurred at A&A Italian Deli.
