A social media post from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office detailed some of the variety of calls their deputies and supporting teams have been handling, from animal rescues to fire management, coming together under the umbrella of service and duty to the community.
In recent weeks, the teams have chased after escaped ponies, provided aid to a distressed deer, and recovered a vehicle from a reservoir, the latter undoubtedly a tricky and dangerous endeavor. Their Communications Center has been an essential hub for keeping first responders connected and informed, running the behind-the-scenes show that allows their counterparts in the field to operate effectively. Amid the more typical emergency responses, the Sheriff’s Office also played a supportive role during the public safety power shut-off, ensuring that community needs were met during what could be a disruptive time.
Preparing for the unforeseen is part and parcel of the job for these public servants. Fire management teams diligently worked active fires and prepped equipment for the inevitable next call, while new patrol deputies took the solemn oath to protect and serve, and even amidst these weighty responsibilities, there was room for lighter moments as the office celebrated a cadet holiday gathering. Traffic enforcement efforts have also been ramped up to reduce speeds and ensure safer roads for all.
