A15-year-old boy became the victim of a severe assault while riding a Bronx bus earlier this week. According to NYPD Crimestoppers, the young victim was involved in a verbal altercation on a BX 38 MTA bus which abruptly escalated into physical violence. The incident, which occurred around 2:35 PM on December 9, resulted in the teenager being punched, kicked, and stabbed multiple times in the chest.
The suspects, two unidentified men, engaged the teenager aboard the bus as it neared the junction of Bartow Avenue and Gunther Avenue. Following the brutal attack, they disembarked and were seen fleeing westbound on Bartow Avenue. Struggling to subdue the chaos of the situation, passengers aboard the bus likely felt the immediate shock and helplessness that ensues when violence shatters the mundanity of a public commute.
The New York Police Department has since been on the hunt for the individuals responsible, circulating descriptions and seeking tips from the public. The NYPD Crimestoppers' social media post details how the altercation began and calls for anyone with information to direct message @nypdtips or to call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
