At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Northwest Second Street in Margate, deputies confronted the armed suspect, triggering an exchange of gunfire. Miranda Grossman, a BSO spokesperson, conveyed that a deputy-involved shooting did occur, as the armed suspect fired at the deputy from within a car. The intensity of the scene was captured on surveillance footage, and later 7Skyforce aerial coverage showcased a black car riddled with bullet holes and a white unmarked police pickup truck with a bullet hole in the windshield, as recounted by WSVN.

"One of our deputies was shot by the suspect. Fortunately, he was protected by his bulletproof vest, and he did not sustain life-threatening injuries," Grossman said, according to WSVN.
