
The California Highway Patrol is increasing road safety measures during the holidays with two statewide Holiday Enforcement Periods targeting impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and seat belt violations. "The Christmas HEP begins today, December 24, at 6:01 p.m. and continues until 11:59 p.m. on December 28," California Highway Patrol noted.
During this time, California Highway Patrol officers will actively patrol highways to ensure safer travel for holiday motorists. The public is encouraged to help by reporting unsafe driving to 9-1-1.
According to the California Highway Patrol on their Facebook page, the agency is focusing on holiday traffic safety, as incidents often increase during this time. The California Highway Patrol is increasing patrols and enforcement to reduce accidents. They said, “Let’s make safety our top priority this holiday season. Buckle up, drive responsibly, and if you’re celebrating, always plan for a sober ride. Thoughtful choices save lives and keep California’s roads safe for everyone!” The agency also stated, “The CHP’s mission is to provide the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security to all Californians.”
