On November 23, a report of a missing 15-year-old girl set off an investigation in Temecula, Riverside County, that has led to the arrest of a Southern California man for human trafficking-related charges. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department responded to the initial call and enlisted the support of the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (RCAHT) as the situation escalated.
Within days, specifically on November 26, the task force safely located the young girl in Long Beach; however, it was revealed through the investigation she had been sexually assaulted and subjected to child sex trafficking, her alleged assailant identified as 20-year-old Nestor Alexis Aguirre-Chavez from Wilmington, CA, who was arrested on December 5th following a thorough search of his residence, the operation secured without incident by the combined efforts of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit, K-9 Unit, and RCAHT.
Currently held at the Robert Presley Detention Center, Aguirre-Chavez faces a slew of severe charges, including commercial sex trafficking of a minor under duress, pimping a minor under age 16, and other related felonies. His bail has been set at $1,000,000. This case has opened the door for others potentially affected; henc,e authorities are urging individuals with additional information or who may have been victims associated with Aguirre-Chavez to step forward, contact details provided on the Riverside County Sheriff's website.
Aguirre-Chavez's arrest underscores the persistent dangers lurking on social media platforms where traffickers exploit the vulnerabilities of the young, with parents reminded to keep a vigilant eye on their children's online interactions, despite the task force’s ongoing zero-tolerance stance on human trafficking and the careful coordination among the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation, and the Department of Social Services.
