Heads up, Charlotte residents! With the holiday season upon us, the City of Charlotte's Solid Waste Services has announced the modified collection schedule during Christmas and New Year's. According to a recent bulletin from the City of Charlotte, there will be no garbage, recycling, yard waste, or bulky waste collection on Thursday, in observance of Christmas Day.

So, for those who were expecting to have their trash picked up on Thursday, don't fret. Your bins will be tended to on Friday. Friday's usual pick-ups will roll over to the following day, Saturday. And if you're wondering, yes, it's a green recycling collection week, so make sure to get those green bins out. The New Year’s schedule will be back to business as usual with all services running on their regular schedule, including on Jan. 1, which will begin an orange recycling collection week.

Don’t let your Christmas tree linger! Starting Monday, Jan. 5, the city will collect natural trees. Remove lights, decorations, and tinsel before placing them at the curb. Artificial trees and wreaths must be scheduled for bulky-item collection via 311, the city website, or the CLT+ app.
