Charlotte residents might do well to carry an umbrella for most of this week, as the National Weather Service has reported a high likelihood of rain through to the middle of next week. The forecast, last updated today, December 4 at 4:52 am EST, detailed a week ahead filled with fog, rain, and cloudy skies according to the National Weather Service, Charlotte N.C.
While fog is set to give way later in the day, increasing clouds forewarn of a high near 52 degrees today. Residents waking up to the current condition of fog/mist and the temperature hovering at 31°F might find the calm wind hardly comforting, with high humidity setting a damp stage for the day. The weather service anticipates rain to begin after midnight, with calm winds shifting east northeast at about 6 mph, and a 90% chance of precipitation.
It seems like the city won’t be shaking off the wet weather any time soon, as the forecast promises more rain primarily before 1pm tomorrow. Visibility is at 6 miles in the current conditions, but it may reduce during periods of patchy fog. Temperatures will hover around 40 degrees with a continuing 90% chance of rain and light northeast winds. Going into the evening, there will still be a lingering 30 percent chance of rain before the day settles into cloudy skies and a low around 34.
The weekend won’t fare much better, with cloudy skies persisting and light southwest winds, rendering a high near 48 on Saturday. The NWS also gives a 40 percent chance of rain carrying into Saturday night, which may well extend into a drizzly Sunday. Rain, mainly before 1pm, is forecasted for tomorrow, with intermittent chances of precipitation threading through the start of next week.
Looking ahead, there’s a slight reprieve with partly sunny skies and a near 43-degree high by Monday, though it will be short-lived. The joy of mostly sunny skies with a high near 52 should be tempered by still more rain chances on the days following. As we reach the midpoint of next week, the residents can anticipate mostly sunny conditions once again.
