According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's news release, the suspect's vehicle was discovered with damage indicative of a collision with a pedestrian. This finding, following a tip received on Monday, Dec. 1 through CrimeStoppers, eventually allowed detectives to pinpoint Moore as the driver.

Charges laid upon him include involuntary manslaughter, a felony hit and run causing death, and operating a vehicle without a license. Contrary to initial assumptions, speed was not deemed a contributing factor to the incident, however, the question of impairment lingers, it remains unanswered pending toxicology results.
