The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred in the 4800 block of Tuckaseegee Road. According to a statement obtained by CMPD's Newsroom, the incident took place today, Dec. 4, when officers received a call to assist MEDIC at approximately 8:16 a.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officers found an individual suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts to quickly to respond, the victim was pronounced dead on the spot by MEDIC. The CMPD's Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation, with assistance from the Crime Scene Search to process evidence, and support from the CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC personnel.
Details of the case remain scant as the investigation continues, and the CMPD has not yet released information regarding potential suspects or motives behind the shooting. The department, however, has made an appeal for public assistance.
