
Charlotte authorities are investigating a homicide in the Westover Division. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) Homicide Unit responded today to the 100 block of East Woodlawn Road, where an individual was found with gunshot wounds.
According to the CMPD, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers were called to the 100 block of East Woodlawn Road to check the welfare of a person. Upon arrival, they found an individual with life-threatening injuries. The person was transported to a local hospital by MEDIC, where they were later pronounced dead. Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The CMPD is continuing its investigation into the incident. Forensic teams from the Crime Scene Search Unit collected evidence at the scene, with support from other CMPD divisions, including Operations Command and Victim Services, as well as the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC.
Detectives from the CMPD Homicide Unit are leading the investigation, with Detective Murphy overseeing the case. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Charlotte Crime Stoppers, with no requirement to provide a name or appear in person.
