
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit is currently investigating a death that occurred in the Freedom Division on Queen City Drive. The incident happened early Friday morning, according to official reports from CMPD's newsroom. Officers were called to the 3400 block of Queen City Drive around 1:23 a.m., responding to an urgent call for medical assistance.
At the scene, they found a juvenile not breathing. After MEDIC's arrival, the patient was promptly transported to a local hospital. Tragically, they were pronounced deceased there. The identity of the juvenile and cause of death remain under investigation. Homicide Unit detectives took lead on the case, collaborating with Crime Scene Search to process the scene and gather evidence, not breathing at the time, the juvenile patient was found by the officers who discovered them.
The investigation is described as active and ongoing. CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services, and Charlotte Fire Department provided additional support during the incident.
