Chester residents, it's time to mark your new calendars for waste management schedules. The City of Chester, PA, Government recently announced on social media a reminder for all Chester households regarding their updated trash and recycling pickup service, which will commence with the new year. From January 2, 2026, the city's new hauler will be handling the collection, maintaining the same weekly schedule but with a notable change: trash and recycling will be collected on the same day. City of Chester urges residents to follow the new guidelines to ensure a smooth transition.
In the spirit of keeping the neighborhood clean and the pickup process efficient, the city reminds residents that all refuse must be contained within the official bins – orange lidded for trash, blue for recycling. By 4:00 PM the night before, or by the crack of dawn, by 6 AM on your collection day, residents need to roll out these containers to the curb.
The city's communication emphasizes conformity to the new rules for proper disposal. Containers should be placed at the curb, but only at the specified times to avoid cluttering sidewalks and streets. Once the trash has been collected, containers should be promptly removed from the curb. To avoid any misstep, the City of Chester's post reminds, "Place containers at the curb the night before your scheduled collection day, no earlier than 4:00 PM, or by 6 AM the day of."
This logistical shift reflects an ongoing effort by municipal authorities to improve waste management services in Chester. Alongside regular reminders and updates posted on social media, the city maintains an open line of communication with its residents to ensure the transition to the new hauler is seamless. The containers, after being emptied by the haulers, should be brought back in from the curb to maintain the tidiness of the city's thoroughfares.
