Heads up, volleyball enthusiasts and parents of sporty kids, the City of Hickory is calling all aspiring spike, serve, and volley superstars to hit the court, 'cause it's game time—registration for the city's Volleyball program is officially open. That's right, bump-set-spike your way over to hickory.recdesk.com because the signup window is live and will remain open until January 14, 2026.
Here's the deal: all city dwellers can join the fun at no cost, that's free, nada, zip, for all City of Hickory residents, but if you're coming from the outskirts you're not left out, you'll just need to pony up a $40 nonresident fee, easy peasy — plus the added cost for the team jersey at registration time. If your kid is new to the volleyball scene with the Hickory Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Department, just remember to bring a birth certificate to their offices at 1451 8th St. Dr. NE.
Digging into the age groups, the program serves a pretty broad swathe—girls from 9 all the way up to 18 across three divisions: 11U for ages 9-11, 15U for those between 12-15, and the 18U category for the 16-18-year-olds. Keeping track of ages for eligibility is simple, if they're 9 by April 1, 2026, they're in, but if 19 candles were on their last birthday cake before April 1, 2026, then, well, it's time to hang up the knee pads—time flies when you're having fun. All the athletes need to show up for skills assessments, save the dates: January 26 and 27, 2026, no ifs, ands, or buts.
