A fatal vehicular incident has claimed the life of a Cleveland man, as per multiple reports. The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed a pickup truck veered off Ledge Road in Granger Township, Medina County, leading to a tragic accident that occurred Monday afternoon. WKYC detailed that the Ford F-150 struck a guardrail and flipped, landing into an embankment around 1:45 p.m.
The driver, 57-year-old Ricardo Rivera, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 42-year-old female passenger was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center, with her condition currently undisclosed. Reported under a wind advisory during the time of the crash, the weather conditions across Greater Cleveland were poor, a factor that the authorities are considering. Driving the Ford F-150, the conditions have not been firmly established in connection to the incident's cause by officials, as noted in a press release cited by FOX 8.
In addition to state troopers, several local departments responded to the scene, including Medina County Sheriff’s Office, Hinckley Township Fire and Police Departments, Bath Township Fire Department, and Granger Township Fire Department, joined by Jon's Towing. According to an article by Cleveland 19, the Medina County Coroner's Office also made its presence known, definitively identifying Rivera as the deceased.
With the crash still under investigation, authorities have yet to release a full report detailing the sequence of events leading up to the accident. The passenger, identified by sources as Staci M. Schlegel, was taken by EMS to Metro Health Cleveland Main Campus, assisting the injured woman leaving the scene.
