Backed by $25 million from Haslam Sports Group (HSG), according to David Gilbert, President & CEO of Destination Cleveland, the vision for the lakefront is expected to be a "generational transformation" that offers new opportunities for housing, recreation, and employment. The passage of this settlement has seemingly opened the doors for a future wrapped in vibrant, accessible locales that Mayor Bibb believes will reconnect inhabitants and travelers to Lake Erie, as expressed by Scott Skinner, Executive Director of North Coast Waterfront Development Corporation.
Baiju Shah, President & CEO of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, lauded the agreement as a pivot that will draw further investment into the downtown area, mentioning the potential for a new domed stadium that could draw additional events and visitors. With a nod to the future, Michael Deemer, President & CEO of Downtown Cleveland, Inc., highlighted how resolving the settled suit empowers the city with a head start to revitalize the downtown core. The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority also added its voice of support. Cognizant of the complexities and costs associated with waterfront development, the Port sees the Browns' $45 million pledge as a critical insertion into the city's shoreline revitalization efforts.
