The graduate, whose story was shared by CSU News, reflects on her time at CSU, revealing a dedication to public service and research that closely aligns with the university's mission.
DiPierro's internships have played a pivotal role in shaping her career path. She describes an internship with the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office that provided her with an intense understanding of the criminal justice system. She had the chance to fully immerse herself by "sitting in courtrooms alongside prosecutors and probation officers to interviewing detectives and riding along with investigators," DiPierro told CSU News. It's clear the experience has deeply impacted her perspective and emboldened her aim to eventually join the FBI.
But DiPierro's contributions extend beyond her academic and professional pursuits. Her work with the Miracle League of Lake County—a baseball league for children and adults with disabilities—highlights her commitment to community service. This involvement not only enriched her university life but also informed her honors research study, looking into parental perceptions of community within the league. "Every moment with the Miracle League has reinforced lessons that will stay with me for life," DiPierro reflected in the CSU News interview.
DiPierro credits her interactions with CSU faculty for much of her growth. She's cultivated connections with multiple professors who have offered support and inspiration throughout her journey. Among them, she mentions Rosemary Nugent from the College of Law for being a "constant source of kindness and guidance," and Dr. Olivia Pethtel for her invaluable mentorship in her honors research. These connections are not mere academic formalities but foundational relationships that have enabled DiPierro to even more effectively pursue knowledge and community service.
As for her post-graduate plans, DiPierro is setting her sights on a career in law enforcement and acknowledges the important role CSU has played in preparing her. "I plan to begin my career in law enforcement after graduation, with the long-term goal of working for the FBI," she revealed to CSU News.
