The 16th Annual waterSmart waterArt calendar contest in Cobb County has unveiled its winners, rewarding the creative endeavors of middle school students who rose to the challenge of showcasing water's significance in their lives.
With entries hailing from ten different middle schools across the county, the art contest, aimed at sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, put students' creative talents to the test. They were asked to illustrate, quite simply, "How is water important to me?" The judging panel had its work cut out, evaluating submissions on the basics: creativity, relevancy, and artistic ability. And the result? A collection of twelve winning pieces that will soon grace the pages of the 2025 waterSmart waterArt calendar, as reported by Cobb County’s news release.
As is the ritual, these youthful expressions of water appreciation will not only be printed and distributed throughout Cobb County, but also featured in an online exhibition. For those eager to see the imaginative ways these students value and view water, a virtual gallery awaits at the Flickr gallery. A reception held on December 10, 2025, pulled back the curtain on the cover winner, Penelope S. from Mabry Middle School, whose artwork now spearheads the calendar cover.
