San Antonio police say they’ve found the man they believe carried out a fatal shooting on the Northwest Side last month. Percy Clark IV was arrested and booked into the Bexar County jail on a murder charge, with his bond set at $300,000. The shooting happened around 1 p.m. on Nov. 4 near Wine Cup Drive and Alexander Hamilton Drive. Officers found a man shot in the chest; he was taken to the hospital and later died, as reported by KSAT.
According to an arrest affidavit cited by KSAT, multiple witnesses identified Clark as the suspected shooter, and two of them told police that Clark admitted to killing the man. Investigators also reviewed footage from an automated license-plate reader that allegedly captured the vehicle used to leave the scene. Officers later found that car at a Northwest Side hotel, where they arrested Clark, the affidavit states.
What police say
The shooting unfolded at the intersection of Wine Cup Drive and Alexander Hamilton Drive just before 1 p.m. on Nov. 4. As reported by the San Antonio Express-News, officers arrived to find a man in his 20s to early 30s suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. At the time, police called it an active investigation and asked the public for witnesses and evidence.
How police tracked the suspect
The affidavit reviewed by KSAT credits automated license-plate reader footage as a crucial lead. Detectives matched a vehicle and its plate to video from the area and traced it to a hotel on the Northwest Side. Officers located the car at the hotel and found Clark there, according to the affidavit. Bexar County booking records show Clark was taken into custody and processed at the county jail.
Legal next steps
The Bexar County Criminal District Attorney’s Office is responsible for reviewing felony cases and deciding how to proceed with prosecution, according to the office’s public description. If formal murder charges are pursued, the case would move into the county court system for arraignment and pretrial hearings.
Authorities say the investigation remains active as detectives continue to review witness statements and video evidence. Officials are expected to release more details as the case moves through the court process.
