The collision happened just before 8 p.m. near Laguna Boulevard, and southbound Bruceville was shut down while officers and traffic investigators worked the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the site and authorities say the vehicle was gone before officers arrived.

Investigators say the vehicle was headed south on Bruceville Road when it struck a person crossing in the middle of the street. Police described the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored SUV and noted that southbound lanes remained closed for hours while evidence was documented and the search for the driver got underway, according to CBS Sacramento.
Victim Identified Only By Age So Far
Local station KCRA reported that the victim was a 25-year-old woman, though officials have not yet released her name.
