Dallas and Mesquite police departments are in the midst of an investigation following a tragic double murder-suicide that unfolded last week. According to the Dallas Police Department, last Thursday, officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 2:40 p.m. in the 15800 block of El Estado Drive. The violence claimed the lives of two individuals: 24-year-old Arlina Sander, who died at the scene, and 27-year-old Darvilease Washington, who succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, as per FOX4 News.
Detectives swiftly identified a suspect in connection with the killings as well as a vehicle linked to the suspect, registered in the city of Mesquite. While Dallas detectives were diligently preparing an arrest warrant, they were notified by the Mesquite Police Department of a shooting in their jurisdiction, CBS News reported. This development occurred relatively soon after the initial incident, with the suspect, 44-year-old Jonathan Lakill Mantoy Jones, discovered dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound just after 5 p.m.
Mantoy Jones's body was located in the 1000 block of Craig Drive in Mesquite, his vehicle parked in the driveway, as per the Dallas County Medical Examiner's report. Fox 4 News indicated that the motives and circumstances surrounding the tragic event remain under investigation. The Dallas Police Department continues to seek information pertinent to the case, urging anyone who might have answers to come forward.
