A child in Dallas has been hospitalized with serious injuries after being bitten by the family dog. The incident occurred last Saturday in the Vista Lake Subdivision Pavilion, where police were called to the scene around 12:24 p.m, FOX 5 Atlanta reports.
The Dallas Police Department confirmed that, the 9-year-old victim was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of severe injuries sustained during the incident. Unfortunately, details regarding the breed of the dog or what precipitated the bite have not been disclosed by authorities as the investigation is still ongoing.
Adding to the severity of the situation, Atlanta News First described the child's injuries as "life-threatening." In their coverage, they noted that emergency personnel discovered the young patient with injuries that could have significant, lasting implications. The officers responded to the call just before 12:30 p.m., which aligns closely with the timing reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
The Dallas Police Department has not provided further information at this time. They did, however, issue a statement asking for the community's thoughts, "On behalf of the entire Dallas Police Department, we ask that you keep the victim and their family in your prayers as they cope with this unthinkable tragedy," which FOX 5 Atlanta shared after the department released the sentiments last Saturday afternoon.
