It was a typical case of modern tech melding with good old-fashioned police work in Danville, when a resident's stolen license plate led to a bust involving stolen goods. The Danville Police Department, in a post on their Facebook page, detailed the recovery of the plate and subsequent arrest.
The original crime was reported last Saturday, when a Danville resident came forward to the police after noticing that their vehicle's license plate had been stolen. The police, through the use of FLOCK license plate reader technology, did not take long to track the plate, finding it attached to a different vehicle near I-680 and Diablo Road. A traffic stop ensued, and the officers detained the driver, who was found to be in possession not only of the license plate but also of merchandise pilfered from a neighboring city.
"Using FLOCK license plate reader technology, our officers quickly located the stolen plate on another vehicle near I-680 and Diablo Road," the department said. Following the tech-assisted tracing, Danville's finest brought the situation to an effective close without much delay.
The Danville Police have not revealed the identity of the suspect or the specifics regarding the stolen items at this point. However, they did not waste time heralding the swift action taken by the officers. "Excellent work by our officers and a reminder that technology and teamwork help keep our community safe!" their Facebook post concluded.
