A fatal car accident claimed the life of an 18-year-old Georgia woman and left five others injured on Thanksgiving night in Osceola County, Florida. According to ClickOrlando, the crash involved three vehicles and occurred close to 11:40 p.m. on State Road 538 at Sereno Drive.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a Davenport man, 44-year-old Eddy Edmond, was behind the wheel of a 2004 Acura MDX and collided with the back of a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The Tucson, which was filled with six people and had been stationary at the time, was sent careening into a 2015 Ford F-150 that was also stopped ahead. The driver of the pickup truck, a 40-year-old Apopka man, emerged from the accident unscathed.
Eddy Edmond, who sustained minor injuries, was taken into custody and charged with DUI manslaughter following the collision. As detailed by WESH, the young woman who died was a passenger in the overturned Hyundai and was declared dead at Osceola Regional Medical Center. Her identity has not been released. The other occupants of the Hyundai, including its 34-year-old Kissimmee woman driver, suffered serious injuries, with all being hospitalized as a result of the crash.
Edmond has since posted bond and has been released from jail. The Florida Highway Patrol notes that the 18-year-old victim was not wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred.
