A high school history teacher from the District of Columbia International School has been charged with production of child pornography and enticing a minor, a statement unsealed in U.S. District Court revealed. John Aaron Gass, 35, found himself in custody after FBI agents took him from his Maryland home.
The accusations stem from incidents beginning in the spring of 2025, where Gass allegedly recorded sexual abuse of a minor child and infiltrated the child's space multiple times, climbing through their bedroom window to commit the abuse. It is disturbing and, unfortunately, true that the teacher charged with guiding and shaping young minds was instead exploiting them for illicit purposes. On November 21, 2025, the Metropolitan Police Department passed on evidence to the FBI that Gass not only met with the minor on several occasions for this abuse but also used the victim's phone to create explicit recordings.
The U.S. Attorney's Office remarks that this case is part of a greater effort by the FBI's Washington Field Office's Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, which consists of various federal and local law enforcement entities dedicated to rooting out child exploitation and human trafficking. Federal charges are being sought against individuals connected to such heinous acts, with a focus on those who break federal law in the process.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Rachel Bohlen is leading the prosecution and public input is encouraged—anyone with additional information is urged to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI for FBI further investigation, this case represents a segment of the Department of Justice's Project Safe Childhood initiative, put into action back in 2006 aimed nationally at protecting children from online exploitation and abuse; more details on Project Safe Childhood can be found on their website.
