
An early-morning collision on the westbound US 290 toll road in Austin left one person dead and traffic at a standstill before sunrise on Saturday.
Austin police say an SUV and a tow truck crashed in the 8400 block of the highway. Dispatchers got the call at about 2:54 a.m., and the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The tow-truck driver stayed on site and was not reported injured, according to CBS Austin.
