Citizens in the Deerfield area who are curious about the future of their neighborhood had the chance to engage with city planners and developers about the proposed mixed-use development during a Community Zoning Information Meeting. This event, held at City Hall yesterday, served as a platform for discussing the project that could transform the intersection of Morris Road, Webb Road, and Deerfield Parkway into a dynamic residential and commercial hub.
The community gathered in council chambers, where they were met with over a dozen displays depicting the vision for the approximately 25-acre property, currently an office complex. The MiltonGov website notes the plan includes a blend of 56.8% residential and 43.2% commercial units. Among the potential developments are twin buildings of multifamily units, each housing 70 units, though such a move requires a City "Use Permit."
No formal presentations were given, nor were any votes taken or recommendations made, as CZIMs are primarily an informative step for citizens to learn about local projects before they proceed through public meetings. On site were members of the Deerfield Corporate Center team, along with City staff, ready to answer questions and provide insight into the proposal.
The development hopes to cater to both residents and the wider Deerfield community, offering amenities like a gym, pool, and co-working spaces near Lake Deerfield. A new community building with public restrooms and trails is also planned to enhance local infrastructure. The proposal further includes retail spaces, townhouses, and office space — the latter being allowed by right under the existing Deerfield Form Based Code. Details of the community-driven vision for this development can be found on the City's website.
Information for those who missed the meeting, or are seeking further details on the project can be found through the City of Milton's official government webpage. Interested parties are encouraged to stay informed and participate in the ongoing conversation about the development as it moves through additional public meetings and approval processes.
