A somber Christmas turned tragic for a Deltona community as a 17-year-old was left dead following a shooting incident on Christmas night. Multiple news outlets report that Brenden Watkins sustained several gunshot wounds in what is suspected to be an attempted robbery.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene around 8:49 p.m. on El Campo Avenue, where deputies found Watkins and attempted to render aid. Unfortunately, Watkins was pronounced dead at the location, as noted by WFTV.
The investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing, according to the sheriff's office. Despite early signs pointing to an attempted robbery, no suspects have been quickly arrested, and authorities are diligently working to uncover leads.
