In an unusual traffic stop in Door County, Wisconsin, deputies found a driver using a handheld flashlight in place of a missing headlight. The Door County Sheriff's Office reported that the vehicle was speeding on State Highway 42 on Friday night, when the discovery was made.
Although the driver had attempted an innovative solution, FOX 10 Phoenix reported that the flashlight did not meet the safety and legal standards for nighttime driving visibility. "While an attempt was made," the sheriff's office noted, "the flashlight was not a safe or legal replacement for a working headlight." The vehicle, missing its headlight, posed a risk not just to the driver but to all on the road during the dark hours.
Headlights are an essential component for driving safety, especially during the night. The Door County Sheriff's Office emphasized the importance of regular vehicle equipment checks before hitting the road. In a statement obtained by FOX 11 Online, the deputies urged, "Drivers are encouraged to check their vehicle equipment regularly before traveling."
