A Dorchester man is facing charges for a string of luxury car thefts across Boston parking garages after his alleged series of crimes led to an assault on a police officer, according to Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden's announcement today. Anthony Crumbley, 29, has been arraigned in two courts this week and is being held on a bail of $10,000 for a spate of charges.

Incidents leading to Crumbley's arrest involved various high-end vehicles, including a Mercedes S-Class sedan and a Toyota RAV-4 taken from Boston Common Garage and Atlantic Wharf Garage, respectively. An officer was dragged and injured when approaching Crumbley in a stolen vehicle, officials described the aforementioned event. Crumbley now faces charges including larceny from a building, multiple counts of larceny of a motor vehicle, and assault with a dangerous weapon among others. He is set to return to court for pre-trial hearings on January 6 and January 8.

Video surveillance played a crucial role in Crumbley's implication, capturing the suspect's interactions with the stolen vehicles and even capturing a stolen Mercedes-Benz C300's reckoned exit from a Seaport parking garage. In another instance, the theft of a Range Rover from a 125 High Street garage, and its subsequent damage inflicted upon an exit gate were also tied back to Crumbley, as security footage indicated his presence at the scene shortly before the incident.

A succession of events, including the discovery of a letter addressed to Crumbley in a towed Mercedes and a parking lot encounter where he drove a stolen Range Rover through a gate, culminated in his capture. When brought into custody, Crumbley claimed ownership of a broken-down Range Rover, though officers later confirmed it as stolen property, officials said. "This defendant was clearly drawn to high-end automobiles in parking garages and had no hesitation in stealing them or putting officers’ lives in danger when he got caught in them.  Putting all of these events together with the same individual displayed some top-notch detective work," Hayden commented, as reported by the Suffolk District Attorney's Office.
