Early this morning, Dormont emergency responders were dispatched to a residential fire where two cats remain missing following the blaze. According to WPXI, firefighters responded to reports of fire at a home located in the 2600 block of Broadway Avenue. Dormont Fire Chief Jeff Stakich noted the fire seemed to originate from within the walls of the attic, but the official cause of the fire is under investigation.
The incident required the presence of not just firefighters, but also police and paramedics. No injuries were reported at the scene, and as of around 5:15 a.m., there had been no hospital transports, as reported by WTAE. The report highlighted the swift action taken by emergency services in response to the early morning fire alarm.
Despite the prompt response, the fate of the two cats in question remains uncertain. The fire marshal has since stepped in to take over the investigation, evaluating the cause and progression of the fire that unfolded in the hours before sunrise.
